Leon Aliski, Sr. Project Manager

Leon Aliski has served as senior project manager for a number of DRA market analysis, recreation and tourism planning, and feasibility studies. He specializes in regional economic analysis and has particular experience with input/output and other advanced economic analysis methodologies. He holds a Masters Degree in Economics from Oregon State University, and a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and Economics from Humboldt State University. Prior to joining DRA, Leon was with the Oregon Division of State Lands where he provided research and analysis for projects associated with the state's waterway leasing program.

Jordan Bohlander, Project Manager

Jordan Bohlander serves as a project manager performing market and economic analysis, gathering primary and secondary data, and assisting in report preparation. Jordan holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Eastern Washington University, specializing in Marketing, Finance, and Economics. He spends his free time golfing, exploring the Pacific Northwest, and studying software development. Prior to DRA, he worked for the Energy Industry providing data management, energy analytics, and small market studies in Spokane, Washington.

Tanya Mamchik, Research Systems Manager

Tanya Mamchik serves as a research system manager, performing market and economic analysis, mapping and report preparation. She also designs and develops custom web-based interactive applications and dashboards. Prior to joining DRA, she worked as a research assistant for a state-funded program in New Jersey, creating maps and collecting data for different state planning agencies. Tanya earned a Graduate Certificate in Real Estate Development from Portland State University, a Masters Degree in City and Regional Planning from Rutgers State University of New Jersey, and a Bachelors Degree in Geography from Moscow State University.

Dan Mishell, Client Relations Manager

Dan Mishell is our Client Relations Manager, helping us develop the most current and useful research products and facilitating relationships with our clients nationwide. In his previous role as research director of Visit California Dan oversaw the research, analysis and evaluation of data related to the California travel industry. His research department monitored industry trends, conducted qualitative and quantitative research, and measured program effectiveness for the organization’s brand advertising and digital marketing efforts. Prior to joining Visit California, Dan managed the research program at LA INC., the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau. During his tenure at Visit California Dan was elected to the board of directors of the Travel and Tourism Research Association (TTRA) and served as its president. He earned a masters degree from the University of Southern California and a bachelors degree from Stanford University.

Dean Runyan, President

Dean Runyan oversees DRA operations and has a hand in many of the projects that we complete. He has extensive research and planning experience with recreation, travel and tourism, topics that he has worked on for nearly 30 years. Dr. Runyan earned a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning and a M.S. in Engineering from the University of Michigan, and a B.S. in Engineering from the University of California. Before founding Dean Runyan Associates in 1984 he was Associate Professor and Department Head in the Department of Planning, Public Policy and Management at the University of Oregon. Previously he was Assistant Professor in the Urban and Regional Planning Department at the University of Hawaii, and held research positions at the Hawaii Environmental Simulation Laboratory in Honolulu and the Institute for Social Research in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Grant Runyan, Research Associate

Grant Runyan serves as a research associate performing market and economic analysis, gathering primary and secondary data, and assisting in report preparation. Grant holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from American University. On his own time he enjoys rock climbing, skiing, or curling up around the latest edition of The Economist.

In Memory of Bill Klein (1951-2017)



It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart we announce the passing of our co-worker and friend, Bill Klein. Bill lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on May 11, 2017. 

Bill worked with Dean Runyan Associates for over 20 years and was primarily responsible for development and design of the state travel impact studies.

Our condonlences go out to his wife Mary, his sons, John, Thomas and Cyril, and other family members and friends.

Bill will be greatly missed and always remembered!
