Finger Lakes Wine Country Economic Impacts 1997-2001p
The Finger Lakes region of upstate New York is one of the state’s major tourism areas, known for its natural attractions, outdoor recreation opportunities, historic communities and attractions, winter recreation and vineyards. We analyzed the economic significance of the travel industry for the three counties of the Finger Lakes region. The study involved detailed estimates of travel spending, the employment and earnings generated by this spending, and travel-generated tax receipts from 1997-2001. Additionally, the report provided estimates of the number of days visitors spend in the three-county area and the secondary (indirect and induced) impacts associated with visitor spending.
