Projections from the Travel Experts
Dean Runyan Associates has extensive experience analyzing public and private data integral to monitoring organizational performance and developing key indicator forecasts and real-time dashboards.
Travel Trends Cases
Monthly Projections: We provided Arizona with monthly tracking of COVID’s impact on its regional tourism economy.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Arizona required a tool to monitor the state of tourism and its economy in different regions. However, gathering timely insights can be challenging and time-consuming due to limitations in the availability of public data. Dean Runyan Associates was able to predict specific components of the tourism industry and integrate them into their RTIM model to provide accurate monthly estimates of the current state of tourism.
Quarterly Forecast: Nebraska received a detailed lodging revenue forecast for fiscal years 2020–2023.
We helped Nebraska predict the quarterly hotel revenues in their state for the next three years. Our team developed a forecasting model combining insights from Moody’s economic data platform, STR hotel trends, and public data. The tourism office relies heavily on lodging tax revenues, and our analysis results helped them secure the necessary long-term funding.
Real-Time Insights: Ventura County, California, received our assistance in analyzing tourism data for strategic insights.
With so many data sources and limited budgets for hiring analysts, many DMOs find hiring us to extract insights and attractively display them beneficial. Visit Ventura was buying Visa Vue data that revealed actual traveler spending in a destination using Visa credit cards. Although the information was incredible, it needed to be finessed. We applied our expertise to help them get the most leverage from that raw data.
“I like to say the team at Dean Runyan Associates is the unofficial research arm of our organization. Thanks to our partnership, we have an extremely strong regional research program that allows us to turn insights into action.”
Brian Tucker, Executive Director of Ventura County Lodging Association
